Cobra's S3 range is new for 2011 and includes two new drivers, two new sets of irons and two fairway woods – the standard S3 and the S3 Max. Both feature Cobra’s E9 face technology which is designed to extend the sweet spot elliptically to cover hits high on the toe and low on the heel – where many amateurs make contact. The face is also. The Cobra S3 Driver is the replacement for the previous S2 model and features Cobra's latest E9 Face Technology. The E9 Technology has created a taller, elliptical shaped face that Cobra claims mirrors the impact patterns to increase ball speed where golfers hit most often. In terms of where the S3 irons sit in Cobra’s lineup – I’d call them a game improvement iron; slotted between the Super Game Improvement S3 Max, and the transitional S2 Forged. Like the S3 Max, the standard S3 are available in a standard iron set (4-GW) and a hybrid/iron set (4-6 Hybrid, 7-GW). Titleist TS2, TS3 and TS4 golf drivers deliver speed, distance, and incredible performance. Find out if Titleist's TS golf clubs are the best fit for your game.
Introduction
Targeted for players with moderate swing speeds, the COBRA Golf F-Max Superlite Driver is the new version of the F-Max Driver we reviewed last year – LINK. Offering more than just cosmetic changes, the F-Max Superlite has been re-engineered for increased club head speed by reducing the weight in the grip, shaft and head. The F-Max Superlite Driver comes in two versions – the Straight Neck, reviewed here, and the Offset.
Looks
The gold color scheme of the original F-Max has been replaced with a very pleasing red and silver for the Superlite. The sole of the driver is sleek with two zones of distinctive straight lines along with a subtle channel graphic running through the center. The crown utilizes those straight lines as alignment aids, but keeps the tone muted, while “cobra” denotes the center of the clubface.
Corruption of champions all text. At address the driver sets up slightly closed. The gloss black head is deep and symmetrically round. The face is tall and generous.

Sound & Feel
The COBRA Golf F-Max Superlite lives up to its name in initial feel. The club is light, well balanced, and easy to swing. Centered strikes on the forged titanium face have a common, medium pitched metallic tone. Miss the center and the sound is very distinctive – piercing and tinny. The oversized head’s stability keeps feedback in the hands minimal with varying strike locations.
Performance
The tremendous amount of audible feedback revealed a smallish sweet spot. Off-center strikes retained solid performance results and must be what COBRA designates as the “sweet zone”. The variable thickness face produced consistent and forgiving results as might be expected in a max-game improvement driver.
With weight reduction in each part of the club, the F-Max Superlite comes in 18 grams lighter than the original, which translated to a couple mph faster club speed for myself and other testers. Smash factors remained remarkably consistent even with swing speeds of 88, 98, and 110 mph – a testament to a well designed club and quality materials.
Slight heel-oriented weighting promoted ball flight tendencies between straight and a slight draw. Low CG helped with the generous launch height. This straight neck model is ideal for a golfer trying to straighten out a fade and get the ball consistently down the fairway. If you fight a slice, check out the offset model.
Conclusion
The first reaction of everyone who saw the COBRA GolfF-Max Superlite Driver was about how good the club looked. Having a smooth tempo, the club seemed effortless to swing. Although I appreciated the audible feedback on strike quality, it seemed like a disconnect for the targeted golfer. But for a solid player who may have lost some club head speed due to age or physical limitations, the F-Max Superlite may be a great fit. The $299 price should be a beacon to all golfers with budget constraints.

What we say..
Cobra's F-Max hybrid is the lightest and most forgiving hybrid the brand have created. Find out what we made of it when we tested in our biggest equipment test of the year, Top Gear.
Cobra F-Max Hybrid Review: You need to know
Cobra’s lightest and most forgiving hybrid, it’s been specifically designed to perform at moderate swing speeds. A shallow profile and offset hosel promote easy up distance, there’s plenty of draw bias thanks to heel weighting to help keep a slice in check. Larger midsize grips are particularly well suited to golfers of a “certain age”.
Cobra F-Max Hybrid Review: We say
For us Cobra F-Max is opening up a whole new golf market, by pitching itself at an audience which year on year is growing…seniors. Even at Simon’s smooth swing speed the F-Max was over powered which meant high shots with lots of backspin and not much distance, but experience tells us that’s exactly the characteristics which help shots stay in the air for longer and carry further at below average swing speeds. Vijay tv lollu sabha videos free for mobile. We just couldn’t hit a four or five iron as high or consistently from the turf as the F-Max and we certainly wouldn’t have as much fun if we tried.
Cobra F-Max Hybrid Review: Verdict
We love the F-Max concept and whilst tons of golfers won’t want to admit it’s a range beautifully set to help their game, it really is. If you struggle launching a five iron from the deck, do yourself a favour and give the F-Max a try, they really can make the game much more enjoyable.
